Magic Glamping

Your adults-only retreat in the Algarve

Life is a Beach – but just for the day

For us, life really is a beach—but just for the day! We absolutely love heading out to explore the Algarve’s stunning coastline, but after the sun, salt, and sea, there’s nothing better than returning to the calm, quiet beauty of Magic Glamping.

Luckily, we’re perfectly located for beach days. From hidden gems to dramatic cliffs and lively promenades, there’s something for every mood—most within 30 to 45 minutes of our site. Here are some of our favourites, plus a few personal tips to make your day even better.

Cabeco Beach – Peace and Space (30 min drive)

This beach is still a bit of a local secret, which makes it perfect if you're craving peace and space. The soft sand stretches on forever, the waves are gentle, and it’s never too crowded—even in summer.

When we go, we almost always stop at Sem Espinhas for lunch. Their prawn salad is a favourite, and the rosé is surprisingly good—light, crisp, and exactly what you want on a beach day. Come for the tranquility, stay for the food, and don’t forget your camera for the golden hour light.

Fuseta – Authentic Algarve Vibes (25 min drive)

Fuseta has that classic Algarve feel: bobbing fishing boats, friendly locals, and laid-back charm. You can either walk or catch a little ferry over to the beach on the barrier island. The lagoon side is calm and great for swimming, while the ocean side has more of a wild, open feel.

After your swim, we recommend heading to Bor d'Água for a cold beer with a view of the water. It’s the kind of place where time slows down in the best way. If you stick around for dinner, there are plenty of great seafood spots right by the harbour.

Praia de Faro – Easygoing and Full of Nature (35 min drive)

This beach is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, which means you’re likely to spot birds and wildlife along the way. The beach itself is long, sandy, and surprisingly uncrowded if you come early. There's something here for everyone—sunbathing, beach bars, gentle swimming, and even nature walks through the dunes.

It’s one of our top picks when we want to mix beach time with a bit of exploring (or just a lazy drink with a view).

Quarteira – Lively Beach Days (40 min drive)

Quarteira is great when you're in the mood for a bit more atmosphere. There’s a long stretch of beach, a lovely promenade, and everything you need close by—cafés, shops, and plenty of people-watching.

We often head to the beach near BJ Ocean Bar, which has comfy seating, sea views, and a relaxed vibe that’s perfect for a slow afternoon. If you’re feeling active, you can rent paddleboards or kayaks right on the beach.

Vale do Lobo – Cliffs and Class (45 min drive)

This one’s a little more upscale, but still totally worth a visit—especially for the red cliffs that frame the beach so beautifully. The sand is soft, the water is usually calm, and the views are just incredible.

Izzy’s Beach Restaurant is a must if you’re there around lunchtime—their salad is fresh, tasty, and best enjoyed with your feet in the sand and a glass of something cold in hand. It’s laid-back luxury at its best.

Praia da Marinha – A Postcard Come to Life (45 min drive)

This beach is the classic Algarve image: golden cliffs, turquoise water, and stunning rock formations. It’s breathtaking. But a quick heads-up—get there early. There are only a few parking spots and it fills up fast, especially in summer. But it’s absolutely worth it.

If you’re up for a bit more adventure, nearby Benagil Cave is unforgettable. You’ll need to take a kayak, SUP, or boat to get there—but stepping inside this sunlit cave is one of those "wow" moments you’ll remember forever.

Back to Magic

No matter where your beach day takes you, coming home to Magic Glamping is always the best part. Trade crashing waves for birdsong, rinse off the salt under the trees, and settle in with a glass of local wine as the stars come out.

Each beach has its own vibe—peaceful, wild, social, dramatic. We recommend trying a few different ones while you’re here. And if you ever need ideas or directions, just ask—we're always happy to share our favourites.
